Basics

VEX is based on C so when in doubt try following that syntax. For code that doesn’t really operate on a point/vertex/face level run it in the detail field.

Getting data from node channels

int newInt = chi("../CHANNEL_NAME"); // integer value
float newFloat = chf("../CHANNEL**_NAME**"); // float value

Creating local Variables

vector VECTORNAME = {0,0,0};
float FLOATNAME = chf("../CHANNEL_NAME");

@N - Normal
@Cd - Color
@ptnum - Current Point Number
@numpt - Total Number of Points

Useful functions

Fit - Useful to make rand() results a bit more useful,

fit(value, min, max, newMin, newMax); // conforms value, from a old range
                                      // (usually 0 to 1) into a new custom range
vetorName = set(x, y, z); // set new vector value
